~Cookin' Up a Storm~

So I had a lot of Jalapeno Peppers left over from the season and wanted to be able to continue to use them. I looked up how to pickle jalapenos and I was on my way! I got two jars out of them. One is for us and one is for daddy. He loves them on his salads.

Finished Product!

Then Tommy and I went to the Pearl Market and tasted some Jams that were for sale. I tried one that was Raspberry Jalapeno and Oh My Gosh was it good. I had just said to Tommy the week before that I needed to think of something to do with the rest of my Jalapeno's before the first Frost. I was sooooo ready to try to make my own at home. Also, my father in law Bob has raspberry bushes and makes his own jam. I thought, He will have to get one of the three jars I make. The first batch... I thought was going to make one small Jar. Oh no, it made one big jar! Yea! I ended up filling 10 of my smalls so Bob isn't the only one gettin' some jam!

You start out by prepping all the veggies. I had to cut 15 j. peppers and three green peppers into 1/4 inch peices after seeding. NEVER had my eyes watered so much and or my throat ever hurt so bad! I usually work with 3-5 j. peppers at a time. WOW!
That's a lot of Sugar!

One down 9 to go!
Here's the Recipe if you want to make it yourself.
The last three Jars I made after Tommy walked in the door. He suggested to use the food processor to mince the raspberries and peppers and add them back into the jam before it sets. They have a totally different consistencies. I expected them to be even spicier but they are about the same.
I made tags for the jar and lil buckets for gifting. The scripture reads Proverbs 3:5 and the lable reads ONE OF A KIND Raspberry Jalapeno Jam.

Later that day I made some Broccoli Cheddar Soup. You made it in a cast iron skillet. We got Broccoli from Lynd's Market. We also got Cauliflower and I made that soup from the "How to Cook Everything" book that Uncle Brian and the family.

There is a Lemon Chicken Recipe out of a Rachel Ray Mag -Oct 2009- that I've made a couple of times before. It calls for a cup of Lemon Curd. The first time I made it I bought lemon curd. Then I made a Lemon Crape Cake and it called for Curd; made from scratch. It was not hard to make and from now on I've been making my own. I made enough to can the extra; this time.

I needed to use up the rest of my herbs in the garden (at my rents house now) before the first frost comes. I decided to dry most of them. I read that if you just hang them upside down in a brown paper bag, rubber band it and let them sit for two weeks that you're good to go. You just crush them up and stick them in a jar!
Done! Now all I have to do is wait two weeks! Lol.
I got a Martha Stewart cookbook last year and decided to make a Pork Entree out of it. I saw the picture in the collection of photos in the book and picked one that looked great. The recipe was on page 267. I got a kick out of that because growing up my phone number started 267! I thought alright I better make this one! It is a wrapped prosciutto dish with rosemary used three times, three different ways! Yum!
Oh my gosh, at this point I didn't know if I could wait til it was done to try it!
All cooked and ready to eat!
Tommy made the side of gravy, helped with the wrapping of the meat and was the one that seared it too. Yeah, I started to make it and he ended up taking over and it was a great night to do so becauase I was getting tired.
Look how perfect that cut of meat was. The onions were amazing too. I could not get enough of the rosemary flavored meat too. We will defiantly make this one again.

~Best Witches 2 U~

Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat,
Give me something nice to eat,
If you don't we don't care,
I'll pull down your underwear!

Halloween has come and gone but we had three festivities to attend this year. The first one was a surprise for Tommy (and Jackson). We took Jackson to Easton to go Trick-or-Treating "Puppy Style"; Sunday after Church. Jackson went as a Milk Bone!
I also invited Mom and Dad to meet up there. While we were there we ran into a High School mate of mine that daddy taught; we asked her to take a photo of the 5 of us. There were so many other dressed up puppies there. It was really a hoot. Then there were many tents filled with goodies, coupons and such all related to Dog Places around Columbus.
After Easton we went to my rents and daddy cooked steaks... yum! We had a great time visiting. It felt like a real Sunday.

Thursday night was Trick-or-Treat for Westerville and we met up with Marvin to take the girls. Jill was out of the Country. :( We missed her and I know that she missed taking the girls from house to house. We made sure to get lots of pictures for her. I had babysat the night before and laid out the girls clothes for the next day... guess who wore her new shirt to school?! :)
Audrey was a lion. Jill got her the outfit a couple weeks ago and said, "Whatever you pick that is what you are going to be! You don't get to change your mind!" Guess who changed her mind. All week she was saying, "I'm going to be a butterfly!" LOL! No! Even when Marvin was getter her dressed she told HIM, "I'm going to be a butterfly!" Audrey soon learned... Lion or nothing! Once she had her outfit on she was happy to be a lion!
~Brooke was Bat Girl and such a cute on at that! She even had a lil cape!~
~I love this pic of us!~
One of the houses was ALL DECKED OUT in life size "scary people"! There were at least 20 of these guys. Tommy walked Brooke up to look at them. Audrey was having nothing of it; just sitting at the end of the drive staring!

~Brooke looking and asking questions about the dancing skeleton~
When we got back both the girls counted, sorted and ate some of their candy. It was a great night. They were too cute.
Oh and finally at the last house A-Dub FINALLY said, "Trick or Treat!" Every time we told her to say it she said, "Noooooo!" Although she did say, "Thank you" every time! :)
On Friday night we went over to my parents house for a 5th Friday Party. Some of us dress up, some don't but mainly we eat, play board games and hang out. Tommy and I went for a while. T did not dress up this year but I got wings from Yankee Trader (witch by the way closed last week) and did my make up; up!
~Hannah was a Bumble Bee and so cute!~
~AAArrrrrrrggggggg!~
~Kim, Hannah, Daddy and Me~
When Tommy and I got home we found a little gift for us in our bag of coupons and such that mom had sent home with us. Mom and dad gave us some Treats for Halloween; how sweet! It was a good Halloween!

~Audrey's Bday & Babysitting~

So Long Story Short: there is this guy that lives in our back yard who buried a lot of stuff in his back yard (our back yard too) last year. Yea! Creepy considering he didn't have any pets, one of the items is the size of a horse and we still can't make out that the tombstones read. So sweet Jill got this for me to hang on the back patio! LOL. So fitting!
For Audrey's birthday Jill, Aunt Stacy, Jess and I went to Costo to pick up an amazing Cake! We all had a joke going that it didn't matter if the girls liked the cake or not, it was really for the adults! LOL.
A-Dub had her Party at the Gahanna Bowling Ally. Audrey, Brooke and all her lil friends had so much fun bowling. The pin in the pic was for everyone to sign. It turned out really cute.

~Aunt Stacy, Jess, Jill and Me~

I got A-Dub two tees. One said, "Looking for Trouble" and the other said, "Tiaras Make You Taller"! Her party was Cars (Disney Pixar) themed. It was hysterical to see her lil face looking at me like, "Didn't you get he memo?" LOL. I baby sat three times that next week and she wore the "LfT" one day to school. :) Made me smile ear to ear.
"That Next Week" while sitting I brought a craft for the girls. Just lil pumpkins that they could color. They had a lot of fun decorating them.
While I was sitting Tommy called me and asked if we had been outside to see the rainbow yet. The girls were so excited. We stood outside for a while just staring at it and of course they asked me questions about it too. There was a double rainbow at some point but we only saw the single, although it went from one end to the other in the sky; so amazing.

The girls asked me to straighten their hair before bed and after their bubble bath; so I did. Audrey looked sooo different with hers done.

Later that week Tommy and I went with them Trick or Treating. That Blog is to come soon.
