~Puerto Rico - Old San Juan~

Old San Juan... The history of the city and of course all the individual places that we visited are incredible. First we walked down a path that lead us to a beautiful 1800's building. While we were taking pictures a Cop came up to us... grrrrrrrreat! Actually he wanted to tell us the history. Apparently it was an old Jail and the photo we had just taken was where two men were hung (under the arch) for the murder of a 13 year old... ok! Wouldn't have guessed that! History is about to come to life! In Old San Juan pigeons are freakin' everywhere!

Around lunch time we found a Tapas Bar called Rosa de Triana. We were very pleased to find out that the bar tender spoke English! He said his English was not very good and apologized we laughed at him and told him it was great!

Monfrongs and Chirozo were the dishes of the day! We both enjoyed what we ordered. Tommy also got a taste of a Puerto Rico Rum that he had not had before called Ron del Barrilifo. He really enjoyed it!

While we were eating and talking to the bar tender he said, "Let me go get one of the cooks!". We said that was fine but we were kind of confused. We had Tommy's D3 out on the table and apparently the young man was an amateur photographer and the bar tender thought he would get a kick out of our camera! The four of us spend quite a bit of time talking. That of course included the bar tender translating for us as the cook did not speak a word of English!

Thursday, May 12th of 2011 I saw something that I had NEVER seen before a “Halo Rainbow”. It was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen! Do you see it in my glasses?

We walked around for a little bit longer before we found a taxi to meet up with two people back at the Condo. We had to go back because when we left in the morning the handle to the door broke. Yeah... Anyway, we found a cute little patio seat at Toro Saloo and it started pouring rain. So much that the waiter asked us twice if we wanted to go in; umbrella in hand ready for us. We loved it!!! We got a little wet but got to sit with a 360 view of Puerto Rico on a rainy day. There were 7 of us on that patio that never moved and I am sure we were all tourist! Lol. Tommy had a Lemon Drink that he later duplicated at home for me and I had Churros to go! We got DRENCHED when we ran to the Taxi! Good think we were going to the Condo.

We met up with the maintenance man and Gustavo at 3:30pm.. We ended up at Home Depot to replace the whole door set. Then we ordered sushi from the place we ate the night before; same rolls. While we ate we decided that afterwords we would go to the pool, got ready, went, closed! This of course was after Tommy took four layers of skin off of his toe with the screen door, not finding any band-aids and walking to the store to get some. Geeez!

The next morning the Bride's Step-dad (and mom) picked us up to drive us to the Resort. It was about a 2 hour drive. The next three nights we were at The Villa Montana. Gorgeous! About 20 minutes outside of the Resort H??// and Marlene treated us to lunch at Restaurante La Llave del Mar. H???'s Uncle and his Wife joined us as well. When we went out to the patio to sit we saw the MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEW! I said to Tommy, “Now we are in Puerto Rico Baby!”.

~I had Monfrongo again! It's the dish to eat in Puerto Rico!~

We got to the Resort around 7:30pm. We met the Groom and got settled in then met in their Villa and hung out for a while. I love the photo, I took, below!

The next morning the four of us headed out on adventure, an adventure to photograph the two of them all day long!
